Nothing says homemade goodness like apple pie, and this 21DSD-friendly apple crumble is a perfect grain-free, sugar-free treat. Bake some up and share with family and friends–they're sure to love it!
Granny Smith Apple Crumble from The 21-Day Sugar Detox
grain-free • gluten-free • dairy-free • refined sugar-free
PREP TIME: 15 min
COOK TIME: 45-50 min
SERVINGS: 4
for the filling:
- 4 green apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
for the topping:
- 1 1/4 cups almond meal or other nut meal of your choice, store-bought or homemade
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter or coconut oil, softened
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- pinch of sea salt
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or coconut oil, melted, for the pan
preparation:
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Make the filling: In a mixing bowl, toss the apples with the lemon juice and cinnamon.
Make the topping: In a separate bowl, mix together the almond meal, butter or coconut oil, cinnamon, and salt until completely incorporated.
Brush the bottom and sides of a 9 by 9-inch or similar-sized baking dish with the melted butter or coconut oil.
Place the apples in the baking dish and cover evenly with the topping.
Bake for 20 minutes covered with foil, then for an additional 25 to 30 minutes uncovered, until the apples are soft and the topping begins to brown on the edges.

One of our favorite recipes!!! We make it every thanksgiving. We have diabetics and gluten free eating restrictions and I feel great feeding it t the kids anytime of day including for breakfast!
