Stories, testimonials, and results from 21-Day Sugar Detox participants

“It not easy breaking the sugar habits, but once you do it, you will feel amazing. Foods that once taste bland or for some gross will have a sweet taste and or will start tasting good. One that shock me that is or has a sweet taste was avocado. Getting off sugar also helped me with inflammation. The list is long on why I was happy I did this program. It reset you body. It  is well worth it.”

“Better sleep, vastly reduced hot flashes, less joint pain, significant weight loss (I have a lot to lose – not everyone experiences this, particularly if you don’t have a lot to lose.) This program definitely works. Just read and reread the book so you understand the yes/no lists. Don’t try to find compliant substitutes for every type of packaged food you are used to eating (tortillas, wraps, etc) – just eat lots of meats and veggies. Don’t make things overly complicated unless you enjoy that. Simple cooking works just as well as complicated recipes.”

– Marilee K.

“After drinking diet cokes 6-8 per day for many years…. I tried this to quit them. After 21 days without one I had the will power to give them up forever. 3 yrs without!”

– Suzanne G.

“Sleep is so amazing now!”

I really thought this would be hard to follow, but to my surprise I was able to stick with it with ease. Day 17 was maybe a tough one, but I stayed the course. In the end, I ended up losing 14 pounds and 110 points off my blood sugar. That was fantastic! The most important thing was what I learned through this 21-day experience. I learned just how much sugar was affecting my life, my body, mind, and moods. Now I am more fully aware of what I am eating and make much better choices.

“I completed the 21DSD last month. The first 8-9 days were terrible. I was exhausted, moody, unmotivated and depressed. I had diarrhea, headaches and wasn't sure if I was ill or going through withdrawal. Then on day 9 or 10 I woke up feeling fabulous with tons of energy. I haven't slept a solid nights sleep in more than 2 years but started sleeping through the entire night on day 10. My period is usually arrives with cramping for the first 1-2 days, is heavy and last at least a week. During the detox… no cramps, normal flow and only lasted 5 days.”

– Jennifer B.

“My biggest take away was when I no longer “needed” something sweet. I was shocked and so proud of myself. And by eating by way of the detox- processed foods were also out. Another major accomplishment for me. It’s a strange first week of feelings, different energy, lack of energy etc. If you think of what you CAN have instead of what you cannot have, you will be much better off.”

I lost weight and felt great while the entire family started appreciating what nature had to offer instead of throwing tantrums for junk!

“What I love about The 21-Day Sugar Detox is how adaptable it is for all different types of people, wherever they may be along their journey to health. I myself have used this program several times to reset my palate and take charge of my own health – as a couch potato, a breastfeeding mom, and as an athlete the program supported my different needs. I have also used it annually to encourage our children to rediscover what healthy foods are after months of holiday indulgences. The results speak for themselves: I lost weight and felt great while the entire family started appreciating what nature had to offer instead of throwing tantrums for junk!”

After completing The 21-DSD my skin had significantly improved, I have energy, I can sleep better at night, and an added bonus was shedding some unwanted pounds. I have battled psoriasis for many years of my life.  After meeting Lori and discussing the possibility of how I was eating could be causing my skin to be worse. She then introduced me to The 21 Day Sugar Detox, explaining how the foods we consume can negatively affect our bodies, and we become addicted to sugar.  I figured “what do I have to lose,” and  agreed to take the challenge. After completing The 21-DSD my skin had significantly improved, I have energy, I can sleep better at night, and an added bonus was shedding some unwanted pounds.  I have decided to continue with this new way of eating that my body seems to like.  I am grateful to Lori for introducing me to this new lifestyle and for being an amazing coach! Thank you Lori!

Now that I reached my 21 days I have no craving whatsoever to “reward” myself with some sugary treat.

“I've been Paleo for about 8 months now. But my weakness was always ice cream or sugary treats. I knew it was always my downfall but my cravings were so bad I couldn't help it. After a bad weekend I finally decided with my girlfriend that we should give it a shot. Now that I reached my 21 days I have no craving whatsoever to “reward” myself with some sugary treat. I'm just going to keep going and see where this takes me. I'm loving the way I feel and am looking and I want to keep taking it to a new level! Lost a total of 11lbs while keeping my strength up (248lbs to 237lbs!)”

My skin is clearer, my mood is better, and I'm sleeping better

“Now I see just how much sugar was stimulating my immune system. My skin is clearer, my mood is better, and I'm sleeping better and waking up feeling more rested–and I never would have described my sleep quality as lacking before hand.”

You don’t have to be hungry to see results!

“When I decided to do the 21 Day Sugar Detox, I had been feeling really awful for a long time! My eating habits had gotten out of control– I was binge eating late at night because I had spent the day eating as little as possible. The 21DSD made me realize that you don’t have to be hungry to see results!”

– Alex T., New Zealand

I have had less gas and digestive upset and my face also feels much smoother.

“I am so proud of myself for sticking it out the whole 21 days!!!! I am so glad I did it. I have had less gas and digestive upset (I have Crohn's disease). My face also feels much smoother. I have learned to eat new foods and have been more creative, since I had given up the easy things I always went to out of habit. It's been a great experience, and I really want it to change my eating habits for good. I just feel so much better when I follow it. Thanks for all the support you gave us!”

I couldn’t believe how quickly my skin cleared up and how much my sleep quality improved – and I have more energy!

“I normally am a reasonably healthy eater but over the summer (which is my really busy season for work) I fell into a really bad rut of eating convenient foods that are really over processed. Once I started eating these foods I constantly craved them and was never able to satisfy my appetite and thus a terrible food cycle began. My skin broke out, I felt really lethargic and had trouble sleeping and staying asleep and I gained weight. I was really hoping to get my food craving under control and regain some of my energy back – enter the 21DSD… I couldn’t believe how quickly my skin cleared up and how much my sleep quality improved – and I have more energy! I was also amazed at how much will power I actually can have when I have a clear goal in mind. Foods did begin to naturally taste sweeter and it blew my mind after about a week that I didn’t really miss the refined sugars as much as I thought I would!”

  1. I have heard great things about this book and program. I have been eating Paleo for a few years and do a Whole30 a couple of times each year. I feel like with my lifestyle I have eliminated a lot of sugar and carbs. Do you think there is a benefit to following this 21-day program based on my current lifestyle and eating choices?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Linda,

I’d encourage you to look at what you’re currently eating and compare that to what’s included in our guidelines (which are available for free at 21dsd.com/free), and if you feel like completing a 21DSD would change things up, then go for it! Also think about why you’d like to complete a 21DSD in the first place, are you experiencing blood sugar issues, sleep issues, etc? Participants experience a wide range of benefits as a result of completing the 21DSD, so I’d recommend thinking about your *why* and reflecting on the guidelines, and go from there. —Moriah, Team 21DSD
