Quick-fire facts

Favorite thing about the program: Guidance and encouragement when I needed it.

Favorite 21DSD recipe: baked salmon with Moroccan Preserved Lemons

Awesome benefits I experienced:

  • Sugar & carb cravings diminished or eliminated
  • Change in palate/tastes – more natural foods taste sweeter to me now
  • Change in overall lifestyle choices for the better
  • Improved skin health
  • Reduced allergies
  • Weight loss (6 pounds!)

Non-scale victories:

  • The ability to make healthy choices and not be at the mercy of my cravings.

Extra support that helped my success:

In my own words

I've slowly been working toward the autoimmune Paleo protocol (AIP) for the last 3 years. This was a huge step forward for me. In terms of forming good eating and lifestyle habits, my journey has been 2 or 3 steps forward and 1 or 2 steps back, but overall the progress has been forward. This was really a wonderful opportunity to really set down habits with firm intention and lasting results; sort of a crowning touch to all the smaller incremental changes.

Since I am dealing with autoimmune issues, this 21DSD wasn't a “wake up and the whole world is beautiful” event for me, but the changes were apparent and encouraging. My hay fever diminished by 70%, and I no longer have to walk around with my jacket closed because I can't close the button on my jeans. Not only can I button my size 12 jeans, but they are also getting baggy and I hope to be back into my size 10 jeans within a month. I have continued the 21DSD, dropping the amount of kombucha I drink daily (16 oz to 4 oz), dropping that occasional gluten-free biscuit (which completes the deletion of all nuts, dairy and grains from my diet), and eating less volume of food simply because I don't need to eat emotionally like I did before.

While I am still working on getting a good 8-9 hours of sleep a night (menopausal hormones and a previous stressful 3 years have left their mark), stress management, getting rid of the brain fog, and feeling good enough to get in a good workout (still rare these days), I consider this 21DSD a major victory in regaining my health.
