In my own words
I now know I was a sugarholic since it was my first choice of any food item any time of the day. However, this was not a reality to me until I completed the 21DSD program. My body seemed to tolerate eating excessive sugar and the highs and lows brought on by sugar for most people didn't ring true for me.
However, as I approached my Senior Years, I was disappointed that I was losing energy and focus way too quickly throughout the day. This is what I found to be unacceptable and became more aware of how our diets have changed over the past 50 years. Movie documentaries and articles about sugar, gluten, and fructose led me to the challenge of detoxing my body for a brief 21 days to see if it would make a difference.
I had no cravings or side affects and started to wonder if I was following the program correctly. It wasn't until the third week that I experienced rapid heart palpitations whenever I was walking on an incline or going up the stairs. The intermittent burning pain chest pain scared me enough to go to the doctor who immediately ordered a lung scan to see if I had a blood clot. I did tell the doctor that I wondered if it was my reaction to detoxing from sugar. When the scan showed no clots both me and my doctor agreed that it was a detox reaction, and I successfully completed my 21DSD regiment with no other incidents.
I effortlessly lost 10 lbs. during the 21DSD and now 3 months later I am approaching a 20 lb. total loss from just avoiding sugar, fructose additives, and starch whenever possible.
My last complete blood tests showed drastic reductions across the board and my energy is back. I can't believe this revelation after all these years.
