In my own words
Before I started the detox, I would literally binge on super processed carbs like cookies, chips, etc. at least once or twice a week, drink coffee loaded with sweetener and creamer every day, and take in energy drinks all while maintaining a pretty strict workout regime. The funny thing was, I still considered myself pretty healthy. Laughable right?! In addition to those terrible habits, I noticed that I was dead tired by 2pm most days, my back acne was terrible, and I kept growing thick hairs on my chin area. I knew I needed to change drastically and that working out wasn't enough to consider myself healthy.
I started out by checking out Practical Paleo and following Diane which led me to the 21-Day Sugar Detox. I thought it was a crazy concept honestly when I first heard of it and I'm super stubborn. I finally decided a few months later that it was worth a shot even if it could just help control my cravings. After reading the book before starting the plan, I mostly loved how Diane explained the “why.” This motivated me on the days that I really wanted to give up and kept me motivated when I did have a slip up.
After finishing, I was 6 lbs. lighter mostly in my stomach region and free of back acne, and I haven't had a thick hair on my chin since. I'm just so glad I found this. Realistically, I think I'll always have to mindfully control my sugar intake but before the 21-Day Sugar Detox, I didn't think I had the will power to do it.
